Set Apart

A picture of two people separated in a stadium.

John 15:19 (NKJV) If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.

We want to fit in and get along with everybody, and we want to be accepted by the people in our workplace. Depending on our age, we want to be known as down-to-earth and able to hang with everybody. Unfortunately, that's not always possible once we decide to follow Jesus.

I lost some friends and some family members because of my love for Christ. But that's okay because, even though I love my friends and family, I have to follow Jesus. After all, He is leading me to an eternal life of peace.

Because we aren't of the world (friends with worldly desires), the world won't love us. I had to learn that the love of Christ is more important. We have been set apart from the world, and some people hate us. Look at what Jesus said in Mark 10 when Peter said, "We have left everything to follow You."

Mark 10:29-31 (NKJV) - So Jesus answered and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My sake and the gospel’s, who shall not receive a hundredfold now in this time—houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions—and in the age to come, eternal life. But many who are first will be last, and the last first.”

When the world turns its back on you, whatever you lost will be replaced now and in the future when His Kingdom comes.

Prayer: Thank you, Lord, for your Holy Spirit, who leads and guides us through a world that doesn't love us. We honor you and trust what you say, and we have allowed it to be written in the name of Jesus. Amen.
