11 I will remember the works of the Lord; Surely I will remember Your wonders of old. 12 I will also meditate on all Your work And talk of Your deeds.
-Psalm 77:11-12
When we're going through storms, trials, and challenges, there can be times when we can be shook so hard that we might forget who we belong to. Or, at the least, we might have a spiritual blackout. Spiritual blackouts are like a blackout we might experience during a thunderstorm. We're in our homes with lights, and suddenly, the lights go out, and we're without power.
The first thing we did was get the flashlight we remembered putting in a convenient spot, and we had light until the power company restored power. This natural storm knocked our lights out like a spiritual one will disconnect our remembrance of how God helped us out in the past. Just like we remind ourselves where the flashlight is during a storm, we should be reminded about the light the Lord has placed in us to get us through the temporary dark times of life.
We have a God who created the heavens and earth, and surely, He can handle whatever problems we face and get us through the storms of life. We have a God who made the Red Sea rise on both sides to allow the children of Israel to cross to the other side. Surely, He can make our problems rise to attention and acknowledge the power He has placed in us.
We have a God who knows nothing about failure because there is no failure in Him. The next time we face a challenge in our bodies, families, finances, or lives, we should remember that we serve a God who, like the gospel singer Tye Tribbett sings, "If He Did It Once, He Can Do It Again." Be reminded. Remember the works of the Lord, remember His wonders, and meditate on Him in times of trouble.
Remember how He worked things out for your good in the past. Remember how He didn't let those weapons against you prosper. Remember how He went before you and drove your enemies out.
