Happy New Year!

Happy New Year - created by me.

Happy New Year! Whew! My wife and I made it through the holidays! We did a little traveling between the church where I pastor (78 miles one way), shopping, and visiting. When I tell you we were busy, I tell you busy is an understatement. I preached sermons, officiated a beautiful wedding, and spent New Year's Eve with my wife and church family.

I'm not bragging, but this post is leading up to a point. In all the festivities and celebrations, I couldn't help but think about the people who dreaded Christmas and New Year's because of the lack and loss of loved ones.

Some people couldn't have big dinners with families because they couldn't afford it. Some people are lonely because the ones they love are no longer with them. And you know what? Some of them are still hungry and without their loved ones.

Let's be intentional in being in a position to help people who need someone to show them the love of Christ. Let's visit, make phone calls, purchase meals, and listen to those who need to talk. It shouldn't be a once-a-year thing we do. It should be every day of the year.

"Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? Or when did we see You sick or in prison and come to You?' And the King will answer and say to them, 'Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.' - Matthew 25:37-40
