Fallen Leaders

Why is it that when someone is sick, some church members will pray for them? But when someone has fallen into sin, some church members bash them.

Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted. - Galatians 6:1 (NKJV)

We have seen or heard about some prominent church leaders being caught up in one scandal or another. I won't call any names, but I'm sure you know who they are. But when you go to social media platforms, you will see more bashing than prayers for the ones who were allegedly overtaken by a sin.

One of the accused got sick on a livestream of their church service, and a lot of people were saying the person got just what they deserved. So we're judges now? I expect people who don't have a relationship with God to say some of those mean things, but we who are spiritual have no business engaging in these conversations.

Galatians 6:1 (NLT) - Dear brothers and sisters, if another believer is overcome by some sin, you who are godly should gently and humbly help that person back onto the right path. And be careful not to fall into the same temptation yourself.

This is what makes people who have a relationship with Christ different from people who don't. The spiritual or the godly are supposed to be humble and guide the one who has been overtaken by sin through prayer and counseling, not bashing and judging them as people in the world do. Sin doesn't discriminate. Sin will wreck our lives, no matter who we are. What I'm saying is that with the sins we're bashing other people about, we can be tempted, too.

Father, help us to be more sensitive to your spirit and not our flesh. Help us to be more ready to help someone in peron or in prayer when they fall. Help to be quick with praying for our fallen leaders. Because all have sinned and fell short of your glory. In the name of Jesus - Amen.
