Child Safety In Hotel Rooms

A three-year-old child wandered from a hotel room and was killed while his mother slept. The child was struck by a hit-and-run driver who later turned himself into the sheriff's office. This is a tragic event, and I don't want to see anyone else go through what the mother of this child must be going through as I write this blog post.

If you are a parent traveling and lodging in a hotel or living in a motel with children, safety is always a concern for your little ones. While thinking about this tragedy, I thought of a way to prevent your child from leaving your room by alerting you when the door opens.

Suggested Child Safety Device

Door knob alarm
SABRE 110dB Door Handle Alarm

I haven't tried this particular alarm, and no, I'm not getting paid to advertise this device. It is a door knob/handle alarm that doesn't need installation. Simply hang it on the doorknob and set it. If your child or someone on the other side of the door turns the knob, the motion and vibration will activate a loud alarm that will wake you up to stop your child from leaving or an intruder from entering.

It's inexpensive and practical. You don't need to be a technician or an expert to install it.

I hope you will invest in one of these if you travel and stay in hotel rooms or if a hotel is your temporary living arrangement. Child safety in hotel rooms is essential for our little ones.

Lord, I hope this will help prevent a repeat of the tragedy in Macon. Please protect our children from the dangers of this world. Please give their parents wisdom to raise them in the way they should go. In your Son Jesus' name. Amen.
