For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. 8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. - Romans 8:6-8
I thought about the years I spent living in sin when I read this passage. Before I loved the Lord, I was involved in a lot of sinful activities that guaranteed my portion of eternal suffering. When the Lord sent people to warn me away from the sinful life I was living, I would dismiss them and call the bible thumpers, holy rollers, and holier than thou. I used profanity in every other word when I talked because I thought it made the lies I told sound better.
I became addicted to alcohol, and sometimes, I would wake up not knowing where I was. I was a womanizer, and I was on my way to hell. But because Christ died for me, an unrighteous man, someone that nobody would even think about giving their life for, died for me! Even when I trash-talked His messengers. Even while doing all of my low-down things, God demonstrated His love toward me. And for that reason, I can thank God I am saved!
If you're reading this and you're not saved, read this out loud with a desire to allow Christ to lead you the rest of the way.
"Lord I am a sinner who needs to be saved. I believe you sent your only Son Jesus to die for my sins. I believe He was crucified and died. I believe you resurrected after three days. I believe Jesus returned to you and He will be coming back one day soon. Please forgive me for my sins and save me. Please live in my heart and help me to be the person you created me to be". - Amen.
If you read and believe what you've read, you are forgiven, and you are saved. Your next step is to find a ministry that teaches the truth of God's word and join it. There, you will find the loving support of correction and prayer. I did the same thing before I loved the Lord. I am so glad I did!
