A Thought About The Sabbath

Exodus 20:8-9

8 "Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. 11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.

It's January 5, 2024, and as I read my daily bible verses, I came upon a passage in Leviticus 23:1-8 regarding the Lord's Sabbath. And I thought, "I wonder what this world would be like if we honored the Sabbath and didn't work."

A lot of people say we have to work. Police officers, firefighters, doctors, and so forth. But if we honored the Sabbath, wouldn't the Lord care for us if we needed essential services? Or would we even need crucial services?

One thing I've found out and can testify to is the Lord will provide for the needs of the people who will obey His word. Again. These are just my thoughts about reality in Christ.

Lord. I thank you for allowing me to be a part of today. Thank you for this thought that we all should ponder in our hearts. I know, through faith, if we would keep your commandments, this world wouldn't be in the shape that it is today. I pray for mercy for all of us in the name of Jesus. Amen.
